The EU official logo for organic food can be used by anyone who qualifies for organic production and processing laid down in Council Regulation (EC) 2018/848, and has obtained the certificate from an authorised certification body. It provides the consumer with a guarantee of the origin and quality of foods. Since July 2010, this label is mandatory for all pre-packaged organic food products within the European Union, and the voluntary use of the label for non-prepacked organic foods produced within the EU or for all organic products imported from third countries is also permitted.
